Establishment: University of Moncton was founded on 19th June 1963 which is the result of the merger of three universities: Collège Saint-Joseph (Memramcook, 1864), Collège du Sacré-Cœur (Bathurst, 1999), and Collège Saint-Louis (Edmundston, 1946). In 1989, undergraduate degrees in adult education was founded in the University of Moncton. Since its initiation in 1963, the University de Moncton has bestowed more than 43,000 degrees and has become one of the most important center for the social, cultural and economic development of New Brunswick’s Acadian population.
Specialty: University of Moncton offers 160 study programs, including 45 at the master's degree level and four at the doctorate level. Fields of study include administration, arts, education, engineering, forestry, etc. More than 35 research centres and institutes have been established over the years. The total number of full time students at the University de Moncton exceeds 5000.
Campus: University of Moncton is divided into 3 campuses across New Brunswick’s francophone regions at Edmundston, Shippagan and Moncton. The campus of Edmunston is the smallest of the 3 campuses and it is the only university in northwestern New Brunswick, Canada. All the 3 campuses of the University de Moncton provide housing facilities. At the Moncton campus, Maison Lafrance, the co-ed dormitory provides housing to the students. With 160 rooms and 11 floors it is the largest residence at the university.
Infrastructure: There are six libraries and resource centers across the three campuses of the University de Moncton. Also there are various recreational spots for students. Also, the University de Moncton also houses the Moncton Stadium, Centre de Formation Médicale du Nouveau-Brunswick. Also it houses the Maison Lafrance, co-ed dormitory on the campus of the University de Moncton in Moncton. Over 6,200 students are enrolled at Université de Moncton.
Faculty: The main campus of University of Moncton has 8 faculties such as Engineering, Administration, Education, Arts and Social Sciences, etc. Students can specialize in the following disciplines: Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Sciences and Law Mechanical Engineering, , Health Sciences and Community Services, Graduate Studies. The University of Moncton's Faculty of Law is one of only three French-language common law schools in Canada. Also, the Faculty of Medicine is the first francophone school in the Maritimes, outside the province of Quebec. With one of the lowest faculty-student ratios in the Canada, exchanges between the professors and students and the overall quality of learning is excellent.
