Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology - VCET Dakshina Kannada, D.K, is one of the reputed engineering colleges in the Coastal region, developing as a centre for excellence imparting quality education and stepping forward with clear-cut goals and objectives in technical education. This institute, established in the year 2001-2002, is a unit of Puttur Education Society, approved by AICTE, New Delhi.
Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology - VCET Dakshina Kannada is run by Puttur Education Society. PES was founded in the year 1915 with an objective of imparting education to the rural and backward areas in and around Puttur. The great visionaries like Molahalli Shiva Rao, Baindoor Rama Rao, Dharmasthala Manjayya Heggade and others were instrumental in starting the Society. They succeeded in establishing the First Secondary School in 1916 at Puttur. (Now it is popularly known as Government Pre-University College, Puttur).

Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology - VCET Dakshina Kannada is provided with a well stacked Library, which has more than 15000 volumes of reference and text books, 95 reputed journals and a large section devoted to general reading. The library is also provided with e- library and net library facility for the benefit of the students. Separate Hostels are available for boys and girls within the college campus. All the necessary facilities are provided within the hostel premises itself.

The Student Chapter of ISTE is also functioning in the college and conducting programs related to technical education to enhance the knowledge of the students. Canteen, Primary Health Care unit & Bank Facility: Canteen facility is made available within the college campus to provide good food during the college hours. Canara Bank Extension counter is operating from the campus to provide banking service to the college students and staff. Students are encouraged to participate in cultural activities in order to enhance their overall experience and to provide an opportunity to advance their interests.
Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology - VCET Dakshina Kannada considers sports and physical education necessary for the physical and emotional well being. Both indoors and out door facilities are available within the campus to encourage sports culture among the student community. The college has a good number of young talented sports persons, who represented the college in intercollegiate sports tournament held at university level and state level and bagged many prizes. The department also is organizing annual sports meet and encouraging the students in all type of sports activities.
The alumni meet at Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology - VCET Dakshina Kannada Campus was held on 01-05-2010. Additional Adv. General of Govt. of Karnataka, Sri. K M Nataraj inaugurated the meet. Hon. President Sri Ram Bhat presided the function. Management Members attended the function. 35 alumni were present. Interaction session was conducted during the meet. Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology - VCET Dakshina Kannada provides Bachelor Degree and Master Degree program to the college students.
