CareSource was started in 1985 from Dayton, Ohio through the efforts of Pamela Morris and received fund from the state. After being operated under the title of Dayton Area Health Plan for fifteen years, it was renamed as CareSource in 2000. In the same year, it had the membership of nearly seventy thousand people which would increase upto 3,20,000 by 2003.
