OCAD University - OCAD U Toronto Library is open approximately 72 hours per week during the fall/winter semesters and provides a variety of study areas, including an Information Commons maintained by IT Services. Registered students, faculty and staff have access to more than 10,000 full-text journals as well as materials database, a multi-media archive, and image databases. OCAD University - OCAD U Toronto Library empowers the imagination and leads the university community in the creation, discovery and sharing of knowledge. The OCADU Library nurtures a learning ecology extending beyond the classroom and studio, where everyone can engage in historical, critical and scientific inquiry, research, lifelong learning, and the celebration of creativity, experimentation and innovation.


Visual Resources & Special Collections at OCAD University - OCAD U Toronto is comprised of the Image Collection, Media Loans, the University Archives and the video/media archive. Visual Resources actively develops and promotes access to digital images and digital streaming video for instructional and research purposes. We are located on the 3rd floor at 230 Richmond St. W., and the collections include OCAD University's slide collection, the Art Gallery of Ontario's slide collection, the video archive and an ever developing digital image/video database of over 71,000 projection-quality digital images. The digital image database is available to faculty and students for research and instructional purposes through the closed campus network.


OCAD University - OCAD U Toronto has several meeting rooms, classrooms, two large lecture spaces, kitchenette and a general gathering area that can be reserved for workshops and special events. Classrooms and meetings rooms are “smart” rooms; rooms equipped with audio capabilities, data projection and VCR/DVD projection. The Shops & Studios are teaching and working facilities intended for use by OCAD students enrolled in studio courses. Open studio access is available only at times when classes are not in progress. All students using a shop or studio must demonstrate competence, technical skill, and knowledge of health and safety issues pertinent to the area before they are allowed access to the space. Students should expect to incur all material costs relevant to the size and scope of the projects they undertake in the shops and studios. The Studio Management department is responsible for overseeing the safe and successful operation of all shops and studios at OCAD.
