Rajasthan Ayurved University – RAU Jodhpur is the first Ayurved University of Rajasthan and is the second University of its kind in India, . The Rajasthan Ayurveda University was established by RAU Act -2002 (Act No. 15 of 2002) which came into force w.e.f. may 24, 2003 vide Gazette Notification no. F25 (6) Ay. /2000 dated May 24, 2003. This university has now affiliated all the 44 colleges/institutions of Ayurved, Unani, Homeopathy, and about 7000 students are pursuing their UG, PG, Diploma and Doctoral Studies. This university is conducting the admission to its degree courses through Joint Entrance Test at National level/ State level.

Rajasthan Ayurved University – RAU Jodhpur has its own constituent college of Ayurved, constituent DAN & P training center and Herbal farming center. The campus is situated at Kadwad, Jodhpur on Jodhpur-Nagpur Highway on over 322 acres of land proposed to accommodate Central Administrative Block , 263 bedded Hospital, Academic Block, Residential Quarters, Sports Complex, Herbal garden & Herbal farm etc.

Vision of Rajasthan Ayurved University – RAU Jodhpur a new role model institute aims to work for main - streaming of Ayurved and other ISMs in National Health Programme through quality Education, Professional Service and Research. Interface of Tradition with Science Academia - Industry Co-operation and Extension activities for Globalization of Ayurved and Green Pharmacy will be the hallmark of this Center of Excellence.

Although BAMS, BUMS, BHMS, MD (Ayu.), MD (Homoeo), PhD (Ayurveda) and certain Diploma courses are already being conducted through our affiliated colleges, we have started academic activities like BAMS course in our own campus from Nov. 2004 by permission of central govt. and CCIM vide letter no. F.No. R.12011/028/2003-EP dated 14-10-2004 from Deptt. Of AYUSH, Govt. of India following the first CCIM visitation in 14-06-04. Rajasthan Ayurved University – RAU Jodhpur is now recognized under section 2/F from UGC by letter no. F9-30/2003 (CPI-I) dated 15/03/2004 & CCIM CCH etc. In the first phase of building construction the Administrative Block is completed and the Hospital Block is under construction. Proposal to construct college building, Pharmacy, Auditorium, Hostels, Guest House & Six Residential Quarters have been sent to government.

The efficient handling of harsh climatic conditions, landscaping and cost effectiveness would also play an important role in the development of the institution so as to make it eco-friendly.

Patient care through Rajasthan Ayurved University – RAU Jodhpur hospital will be the hub of the service activity of Rajasthan Ayurved University Campus. This hospital will have over a dozen medical, surgical and gynecological O.P.D. clinics, diagnostic facilities, O.T., Maternity, Neonatology and Reproductive Health Care Centre, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation unit, Panch Karma Therapy and Kshra Karma units, Yoga and Meditation Centre. The hospital will have its own Kitchen and Laundry services besides a well equipped Pharmacy attached to the hospital to provide fresh Medicines, decoctions, herbal juices and Anupans to the hospitalized patients.

Development of an Ayurvedic Pharmacy of Rajasthan Ayurved University – RAU Jodhpur on commercial scale is on priority considerations. A spacious Pharmacy will be developed equipped with modern manufacturing machines, storage facilities for raw materials and finished products with provision of a Quality Control Laboratory. The pharmacy will honestly follow GMPs as per regulation of the Govt. of India in the first phase. The products of the pharmacy will be used in the University hospital and later on will also be marketed to earn revenue for the University. The products will be suitably branded for commercial purpose and appropriate marketing strategies will be adopted. The University will consider proposal of ties with industries that may be willing to market the products of University Pharmacy, which will have its own reputation besides the mission of utilizing the profit for promotion of Ayurvedic education and research as well as for the care of patients in the University hospital.

Medicinal Garden and Herbal Farming at Rajasthan Ayurved University – RAU Jodhpur has already a huge land of over 322 Acres on Jodhpur-Nagaur highway for developing its campus. 100 Acres of this land is earmarked for plantation of medicinal trees and for herbal farming. 7.5 kms. Long boundary-walls have already been built and plantation work has been initiated. List of medicinal trees which may grow on such a land has already been identified. Bilwa, Amalaki, Amaltas, Nimbuka, Arjuna, Ashok, Shirish, Kanchanara, Shigru, and Nimba are some of such medicinal trees. Similarly Goksuru, Ghritkumari, Guggul, Kapikacchu, Ashwagandha, Tulsi, Arka, Vasa, Sonamukhi, Ratanjot, Karanj and Kantakari are the medicinal herbs, which can be cultivated through appropriate farming.

Panchgavya Peetha project at Rajasthan Ayurved University – RAU Jodhpur the State Govt. of Rajasthan launched Panchgavya Peetha Project in 2008-09 and the responsibility to run this project was handed over to Rajasthan Ayurved University, Jodhpur. Rajasthan Ayurved University, Jodhpur started to work upon this project in its main campus at Kadwad in Feb. 2009. Initially this project is sanctioned for three years. This project has been launched to take up intensive research in the field of medicinal & other potential utilities of the byproducts received from Cow in all types of diseases e.g. Cancer, Diabetes, Leprosy, and Hypertension etc. For this purpose one SRF has been appointed to perform literary & practical research work in the able supervision of Dr. Prem Chand Sharma, Chairman, and Panchgavya Peetha. The Panchgavya Peetha will take the help of Laboratory & Research Wing of Govt. Veterinary Dispensary, Ratanada, Jodhpur, DMRC & CAZRI, and Jodhpur also to undergo the Clinical researches in the Project.
