College of Agriculture – Mandya was established on December 8, 1991 as a part of ruralization of Agricultural Education, as envisaged by Government of Karnataka. It is located in Vishveshwaraiah Canal Farm campus popularly known as V.C. Farm under the University of Agricultural Science, Bangalore, about 10km away from Mandya town on Mandya-Melukote Road. The campus encompasses Krishi Vignan Kendra and District Agricultural Training Center apart from the Zonal Research Station. The College which was initiated at the Zonal Agricultural Research Station to start with, shifted to its own building on the campus with effect from November, 1994. It is located at 190N latitude and 760E longitude at an altitude of 695M above MSL.

Objectives of College of Agriculture – Mandya is to teach and train the students in Agricultural and allied subject, leading to the award of B.Sc., (Agri), and degree. To enlarge the horizons of knowledge and analytical capabilities of the students. To impart extension knowledge to the students through various extension programmes including Rural Agricultural Work Experience (RWEP). To provide exposure to the students to various agro-climatic zones of the state and country through both Sate and All India Education Tour.

Dean’s Message of College of Agriculture – Mandya started functioning during the year 1991-92 has successfully completed 15 years of fruitful academic accomplishment. It was started as part of ruralization of Agricultural education as envisaged by Govt. of Karnataka. It is located in Vishveshwaraiah Canal Farm Campus popularly known as V.C.Farm Campus under the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore. It is located at about 10 km away from Mandya city on Mandya-Melukote Road. Since its inception 469 students have obtained B.Sc. (Agri.) degree from this college. At present 219 students are studying in different classes on roll. A total of 178 students are in receipt of various scholarships during the year. Students of College of Agriculture – Mandya have excelled both in academic and extracurricular activities alike. It is heartening to note that the students of this college have so far obtained a total of 61 University Gold Medals in 11 convocations for obtaining highest grade point in B.Sc. (Agri.) degree among the 3 constituent Agricultural Colleges of the University.

The students of College of Agriculture – Mandya have also excelled in extracurricular activities as winners in various athletic meet conducted so far. The college gives special emphasis on field oriented teaching activities through way of raising field crops and conducting field experimentation by the student themselves. The rural work experience programme organized by the college imbibes a kind of special experience with rural background in the student community. The programme enables the students to gain experience in various fields of agriculture. The NSS camp and social service activities are also conducted in the villages. College of Agriculture – Mandya has experienced faculty, well equipped laboratories, computer facilities, library, hostel facilities for both and boys and girls, sports and other facilities to cater to the needs of students. The Agricultural College V.C.Farm, Mandya located in rural surroundings is a blessing for the children especially of farming community for obtaining quality education in agriculture.

College of Agriculture – Mandya is located 10 km away from Mandya Town in Karnataka State on Mandya-Melkoteroad, which is popularly known as Vishveshwaraiah Canal (V.C) Farm. The Campus is situated at 19° N latitude and 76°E, longitude and at an altitude of 695 m above MSL. College of Agriculture – Mandya is offering B.Sc., (Agri) degree programme since its inception, in English Medium. It has followed the academic regulation and course curricula as prescribed by the UAS (Bangalore) ICAR. From 1999-2000, the third Dean’s Committee Report on Agricultural Education as accepted by ICAR has been adopted. The students admitted to B.Sc, (Agri) degree programme study basic courses and applied census related to agriculture. They also undergo crop production programme in two semesters. In the final year they will be placed in villages under rural work experience programmes for one semester besides NSS camp.

Library of College of Agriculture – Mandya came into existence during the year 1966-67. From its initial collection of 26,000 volumes of books and bound periodicals, it has now grown to 1, 69,835 volumes. The University Library moved into its own functional building at GKVK in the year 1976. The University Library is kept open for 12 hours on working days and for limited hours on Saturday and Sundays. Students and staff of the University can become the members of the Library, whereas benefited outsiders who come with the introductory letters from their institutions/ ID card provided by our University Library are permitted for consultation only. The Library of College of Agriculture – Mandya has created a database of Books, Journals, Theses, Reports and Reference sources and it’s made available through ‘OPAC’. The library has also created databases of current periodicals, CD’s, on-line Journals subscribed and digitized database of Theses available in the Library. The Internet Services has been provided at the GKVK library for the Staff and P.G. Students. Eleven Electronics Journals are also subscribed by the University Library. These e-journals can also be accessed at the GKVK Library, Hebbel campus Library and all the colleges and Departments at the GKVK and Hebbel campuses.
