Mar Augusthinose College - Kottayam was established in year 1995 by St. Augustine’s Forane Church, Ramapuram, in partial fulfillment of a long felt need. For decades a large number of our boys and girls have been relying on the institutions out side Kerala for their professional education and thereby siphoning a lot of money out of the state. When the government became aware of this financial drain they decided to give sanction to a few professional colleges on the principle of self-financing.

The Mar Augusthinose College - Kottayam aims at imparting theoretical and practical knowledge in the fields of Computer Science, Electronics, Business Administration ,Biotechnology and Commerce and enabling the future generation to meet the challenges of life in an area of technology and professionalism. The founders also wished to give such education in an atmosphere conductive to moral as well as intellectual development of the pupil’s personality. The motto below the emblem ‘lighted to enlighten’ reveals this double objective .

The Mar Augusthinose College - Kottayam Library will be open from 9 a.m to 4.30 p.m on all days exept Sundays and Office holidays. The issue\return counter works only up to 3.30 p.m. Saturdays will be maintainance days and no book will be issued/returned on those days.Personal articles like books, umbrellas, bags etc. should be kept at the entrance at places assigned for the purpose, before entering the Library.

We are conscious of the manifold transformation of this human miracle is making in contemporary modern society. We at Mar Augusthinose College - Kottayam have set for ourselves the high goal of imparting the best possible computer awareness and expertise to our students.

The residential concept of Mar Augusthinose College - Kottayam is to stimulate homely atmosphere to the extend possible. There are separate hostels for boys and girls located at the close proximity to the college. St. Paul's hostel which can accommodate 150 students is exclusively for boys and is managed by Ramapuram church directly. Carmel Jyothi Hostel which can accommodate 120 students is exclusively for girls and is managed by the carmelite sisters .

Large well maintained dining halls and 24-hour supply of running water are noteworthy features. The hostels are mobile free zones. However, excellent incoming telecommunication connectivity and telephone calling card facilities for outgoing calls are provided with restricted timings. Accommodation for visiting parents and guests is available on prior. In addition to daily prayer and holy mass, regular instruction is provided in ethical and religious values.Ragging is strictly banned and there are some orientation programmes for fresher to make them feel at home.
